After winning his 11th French Open title at the Roland Garros yesterday, Rafael Nadal stated that this was something he could not even imagine to think was possible. Nadal also praised Dominic Theim for his resilience and stated that he is one of the players the game of tennis needs so much.

Despite Nadal playing at his 75 percent efficiency, he was able to dominate the whole tournament and after an exciting finale against Dominic Thiem, the only player after Novak Djokovic and Gaston Gaudio to have defeated him on clay, Nadal went on to achieve his 11th French Open title with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 victory.

“It's not even a dream to win here 11 times, because it's impossible to think of something like this. I am very happy to have won, especially after I suffered with cramps in the third set. That happens in a match where you are pushed, like I was today,” Nadal addressed the crowd at the Philippe Court moments after the game.

Thiem was able to unnerve Nadal in the third game by killing Nadal’s early break but Nadal saved the only break point earned by Thiem. Whereas Nadal earned 17 break points, won five of them as Thiem made 42 unforced error during the match. And post the victory, Nadal was seen wiping his tears as he held the Coupe de Mousquetaires presented to him by 80-year old, Ken Rosewall. Nadal further appreciated his opponent on a game well played.

“ He's very aggressive with big shots. I want to say well played to Dominic. He played a great two weeks. He's a good friend, one of these players that the tour needs. I am sure you will win here in the next couple of years,” he mentioned regarding Thiem.
