VIDEO | Nick Kyrgios fined for obscene gesture
Nick Kyrgios, who lost Queenâs semi-final to Marin Cilic, has been fined ÂŁ13,190 ($17,500) after the Australian was caught on camera making an obscene gesture involving a water bottle at Queenâs Club. BBC was forced to apologize to the viewers for telecasting objectionable gestures on air.
Nick Kyrgios has made his way back in hot water after he was seen performing an imitation of a lewd act at the change of ends during his Queenâs semi-final loss to Marin Cilic on Saturday. The 23-year-old has been handed a hefty sanction of ÂŁ13,190 ($17,500) by the ATP Tour for âinappropriate behaviorâ during his 7-6, 7-6 loss.
Kyrgios, who has been dogged by accusations of tanking in the past, had already been in trouble earlier in the week during his Queenâs win over Britainâs Kyle Edmund. The 23-year-old was caught swearing after the second round win against Edmund at the Queenâs club.Â
The BBC was forced to apologize to viewers after a string of Kyrgios expletives were audible on air. Asked if he was concerned that the BBC had to issue an apology for his behavior, Kyrgios said he âdidnât careâ.
