Pranjala Yadlapalli won the $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday when she defeated a better ranked Conny Perrin of Switzerland. On the other hand, Leander Paes, along with his partner Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela, managed to reach the finals of Santo Domingo Open.

After reaching the finals of the Monterrey Challenger earlier this month, Leander Paes has reached the finals of Santo Domingo Open along with his partner Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela after the Indo-Mexican pair defeated the combo of Tomas Lipovsek Puches and Juan Ignacio Londero from Argentina 6-4 7-6(3). This time though Paes and his partner would be hoping for a different result as they had lost the finals at Monterrey Open.

In women’s tennis, it has been a rewarding month for Pranjala Yadlapalli as she went on to win her second $25k ITF title on the trot. She defeated her opponent Conney Perin of Switzerland 6-1, 7-6. Pranjala is ranked lowly 411th as compared to Perin who is ranked 144th. Earlier this week in another final Pranjala won against the same opponent in a similar fashion.

For Paes and Angel, it was a straight sets victory where though stretched a bit in the second game they eventually managed to win the match. Both the teams broke each others’ serve in the first game but the Indo-Mexican pair managed that extra break which won the first game for them. The second game was a much closer affair where both the side broke each others’ serve twice and ultimately match was decided by the tie-breaker.

Manish Sureshkumar, however, finished second in the ITF Thailand $15K event. Manish lost in a close match to Ajeet Rai of New Zealand.
