World number 134 and India's no.2 Ramkumar Ramanathan saved a match point as he came back from a set down to dramatically beat Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky 5-7, 7-6, 6-2. The Indian player will now face France's Ugo Humbert in the next round, for a place in the quarter-final of the grass event.

India's no.2 tennis player Ramkumar Ramanathan secured a dramatic comeback win over Sergiy Stakhovsky, as he fought back from a set down to take down the Ukranian. After dropping the first 7-5, Ramanathan saved a match point in the tie-break to edge the second set 7-6, before breaking Stakhovsky twice to comfortably clinch the third set 6-2.

The victory will be a major boost to Ramanathan's confidence, as Stakhovksy is considered to be a grass court specialist, thanks to his famous victory over Roger Federer in the 2013 Wimbledon. Ramanathan, who finished as the runner-up in the same tournament in 2018, will now face France's Ugo Humbert for a place in the quarter-final.

Meanwhile, it was a bittersweet outing for the Indians in the doubles circuit, as Leander Paes and his Kiwi partner Marcus Daniell progressed to the next round in three sets, while Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja crashed out in straight sets.
