Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik has gone on record to say that he has spent the last few months focusing more on her training procedures and techniques. Malik has set her sights on winning the holy treble - the CWG, Asian Games, and 2020 Olympics, in the near future as she gets ready for Gold Coast.

Sakshi who rose to fame after her triumph at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, has grown into one of the nations top wrestlers and a role model for female wrestlers all over. Her triumph at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, where she won the Bronze medal in the 58kg category, meant she became the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics.

Malik has recently claimed that she has set her herself the target to win all the three major titles - the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and 2020 Olympics - in the future. Malik added that she would like to win a Gold at next month’s competition in Gold Coast.

“Ever since I won bronze at 2016 Rio, I’ve dreamed of a top finish in all three major events --- the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and 2020 Olympics. With every passing day, my hunger for gold at all three events is increasing and I would like to begin my journey afresh with a top finish at Gold Coast,” said Sakshi at the Sports Authority of India centre.

Malik was quick to add that she has directed more of her attention to her training and technique procedures in order to add a new outlook towards her game.

“I am focusing more on technique in my training. Along with ‘holds’ in wrestling, it is also important to be quick on your feet. It makes all the difference in my sport,” Malik added.

Malik, who was a silver medallist at the 2015 CWG games in Glasgow, has added that the Canadian and Nigerian grapplers at the upcoming 2018 CWG in Gold Coast will pose a huge threat for her progress in the tournament.

“I am watching the video footage of all possible rivals and trying to evolve special techniques. My fitness is up to the mark and I’m feeling more energetic and confident,”

“You always learn something when you play against or train with big names from foreign countries, and after playing in the Pro Wrestling League, I have improved a lot in my techniques and style,” said Malik.
