Indian pair of Markoo Raginee and Sukhbeer Singh defeated Switzerland’s Janine Hunsperger and Andrea Vallaro in the final to bag the mixed team gold medal in the junior compound event. The Indian duo got the better of the Swiss pair by 152-147 in the summit clash of the global event in Madrid.

Both the compound archers Raginee and Sukhbeer had a great start to the final clash as they took the first set 38-36 with two 10s. In the second one, the Indian pair bettered their show with three 10s and made it 39-37. Although the Swiss archers managed to put up a strong show in the third set, that was not enough to get past the Indians’ score and eventually, the Indian pair claimed the gold medal with a five-point margin.

In the last game of the eliminations, the Indian pair had got past Iran by a big margin of 154-141. This was the second event in which the Sukhbeer was a part of as he also won a bronze medal in the compound junior men’s team event.

India’s 17-year-old recurve archer Komalika Bari has also reached the final of the individual event in the cadet category and will take on Japan’s Sonoda Waka on Sunday.
