Sandeep Chaudhary, Suman break world records in World Para Athletics Grand Prix

Indian para-athletes Sandeep Chaudhary, Suman have broken world records in javelin throw in their respective categories at the ongoing World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Grosseto, Italy. After winning gold medal, Chaudhary has also earned a qualification for the Tokyo Paralympics.

Chaudhary bettered his own record in the F44 category in javelin throw by throwing 65.80 to win the gold medal in the category at the ongoing World Para Athletics Grand Prix. He registered the world record in the second attempt on the second day of the competition in Italy. Chaudhary had the previous best throw of 60.01 in the same F44 category in para-athletics. 

“Really happy to set a World Record in italy of 65.80m in para javelin for India and Thanks to indian government and my coach and my team gosports and my sports staff to be with me in my journey as my supporter @Media_SAI @Ra_THORe @KirenRijiju @narendramodi @DeepaAthlete,” tweeted Chaudhary.

On the other hand, Sumit has registered a new world record in the F64 category in javelin throw. He finished at the second position after Chaudhary in the combined javelin throw event. In his third attempt, he managed to get a distance of 60.45 to set a new world para-athletics record in javelin throw.

Sundar Singh Gurjar bagged the bronze medal a throw of 58.99 to ensure an all-Indian podium finish in javelin throw at the Grand Prix.
