Iâm shocked by Arpinder Singhâs performance, says Bedros Bedrosian

Arpinder Singh finished eighth in the Classic Permit Meeting de Montreuil, as he got to a distance of just 15.78m, which is way less than his personal best of 17.17m. The Indian national coach Bedros Bedrosian has said that he is âshockedâ with this performance by the triple jumper.
Triple jumper Arpinder Singh was once one of the finest athletes in the country and has been doing well in various continental events since the Asian Athletics Championships 2017. He had bagged a gold medal at the Asian Games last year and also became the first athlete from the country to get a podium finish at the IAAF Continental Cup.
However, he failed to qualify for the Asian Athletics Championships in Doha earlier this year as he had recorded only 16.34m and finished fourth in the Federation Cup. His performance had drastically dipped ahead of the Olympics next year and he finished eighth with a best of 15.78m in the Classic Permit Meeting de Montreuil. âIâm shocked with Arpinderâs performance. For somebody who has jumped above 17m, he should be doing something like 16.70m,â Bedrosian told Sportstar.
âI donât think he is aggressive enough during the jumps, he is probably not attacking enough. The last time I saw him, at the Asian Games in Jakarta (in September 2018), his technique appeared to be going down.â
Arpinder will have a tough road ahead of him considering the World Athletics Championships in mind which will be held in September-October this year. Bedrosian has asserted that Arpinder is a âfighterâ and hoped for the best from the athlete later this year.
âI donât think he can qualify for the Worlds with such performances, but Arpinder is a fighter,â said Bedro.
