China Open | PV Sindhu wins maiden Superseries title

The Olympic medal and the World Championship medals came before, but PV Sindhu has finally lifted her maiden Superseries title today at the China Open. The Indian defeated Sun Yu of China in a thrilling three-setter by a scoreline of 21-11, 17-21, 21-11 in the final today.
PV Sindhu had achieved milestones well ahead of time when she won the World Championship medal when she was still 17. The Indian then won the Olympic medal at 21, but she has had to wait so long for a maiden Superseries title. That finally happened today at the China Open.

In the first set, Sindhu went ahead with a rush to take a 4-1 lead and soon reached the break with an 11-5 margin thanks to a lovely down the line smash. As Sindhu stepped up her play, Sun capitulated to commit a series of errors giving Sindhu a huge lead at 19-8. The Indian soon closed out the set at 21-11.
