PV Sindhu has continued her winning momentum at the World Superseries Finals after beating China’s Chen Yufei in straight games 21-15, 21-18 to enter the women’s singles final. In the last match of the tournament, Sindhu will play Akane Yamaguchi who beat Ratchanok Intanon in the other semi-final.

Before the game started, the Indian had a 2-2 head-to-head record against Chen Yufei this season and she used the opportunity to better the record in Dubai. Sindhu looked confident and took a 4-0 lead early in the game. The Chinese player made a terrific comeback and equalize the score 6-6. A powerful return from Sindhu helped her reach 8-all. The fans witnessed a good rally by both players where Yufei earned a point but Sindhu entered the break with a one point lead.

Sindhu controlled the tempo after the interval and raced to a 15-11 lead. Yufei continued to fight on but the Indian shuttler kept her at a safe distance as the scoreboard read 17-14. After letting the shuttle fall out of bounds the Indian won the first game by a score of 21-15 to put even more pressure on the Chinese star.

The 19-year-old showed tried to launch a fightback in the second game but Sindhu successfully took the control of the second game, taking a 9-5 lead. At 15-12, the match looked well and truly over but the Yufei fought back to lead 16-15.However, won five of the next five points to put an end to the mini-revival. The Indian, eventually, rounded up the game and the match after giving away just one more point and booked a final berth alongside Yamaguchi. 

"Overall, it was a very good quality match. Though I won in straight games, there were long rallies. It never got over till the last point. I was just thinking about the next point, each point is important. Chen is an upcoming player and she has played exceptionally well. Her defence is solid," Sindhu said after the match as quoted by PTI.

"I really want to be the first Indian woman to win this tournament. Yamaguchi will be a tough opponent. I will have to be prepared. It will be a long, big match, so not thinking anything now. There will not be easy points."
