PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma have entered the quarter-finals of the Korea Open with straight-game wins in their respective matches. Sindhu overcame Thailand's Nitchaon Jindapol 22-20, 21-17 while Sameer Berma saw off Wong Wing Ki Vincent in just 41 minutes with straight games of 21-19, 21-13.

Sindhu was the heavy favorite going into the game but Jindapol, in the first game, made sure that the Indian was always at a touching distance. The Thai shuttler even took a two-point lead at 16-14 only to lose the next six in a row to hand the Indian four game points. Even though she was able to pull it back to 20-20, Sindhu won the next two points on offer to secure the first game. In the second game, the Thai player kept Sindhu honest in the earlier part of the game till the scores reached 8-8. However, once the Indian opened up a two-point lead, the result look assured, even when Jindapol leveled the game at 15-15. Sindhu eventually ended up winning the game 21-17 to set up a quarter final match against Japan's Minatsu Mitani.
