After a dismal defeat at the hands of Malaysia in the first match of the group stage, India would be facing 10-times Sudirman Cup winner China in their second and last group stage match. With Malaysia already winning one of their group stage match, this becomes a must-win match for India.
India find themselves in deep waters in Nanchang now as they stare at an early elimination after a shocking 2-3 defeat to Malaysia in the first group match. They would now face China who can beat India in probably all categories, something that wasn’t the case with Malaysia who had lower ranked players in the singles category.
Though the order of play will be announced just before the match, the potential clash here could be PV Sindhu taking He Bingjiao or Chen Yufei, while Kidambi Srikanth could be up against Shi Yuqi or Chen Long. The women’s pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy could be up against World No. 5 pair of Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan.
The men’s duo of Swastiksairaj Rankiredyy and Chirag Shetty would hopefully start against China after a hard fought but ineffective performance by B Sumeeth Reddy and Manu Attri. However, they would be up against World No. 2 pair of Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen.
