PV Sindhu has revealed that new foreign coach Kim Ji Hyun's proposed changes to her playing style had a lasting impact as the outcome could be seen in her game of late. The defending world champion also stated that she was more prepared than ever for the match as was reflected in her aggression.

PV Sindhu has been the buzz of the badminton town ever since her domineering win over old nemesis Nozomi Okuhara in the BWF World Championships. And the top Indian shuttler stated that her change in playing style had a lot to do with India's foreign badminton coach Kim Ji Hyun’s arrival.

The Olympic silver medallist was a different beast throughout the entire tournament in Switzerland, running over her opponent with immovable focus, and Sindhu stated that Hyun had a hand in influencing the way she thought going into a game.

"Well it definitely had a lot (of impact) because she has been here for a few months. She had few changes in her mind and I think that really helped me. We worked on that, of course under the guidance of Gopi (P Gopichand) sir and it went very well. I have really improved a lot on skills and a lot more still to improve," said Sindhu at the Sahara India Pariwar, reported TOI.

Sindhu avenged her defeat of the 2017 BWF World Championships edition, which had seen the Japanese beat Sindhu in a match that spectacularly went over an hour. However, the 24-year-old said that she wasn’t thinking about that at all.

"No I don't think it was playing (in my mind) and also I was very positive. It was just a fresh game for me. We have played a couple of times later as well so it was one of the fresh matches."

A massive change in Sindhu’s game in the final was her new found aggression, something Okuhara didn’t expect and she was totally taken aback by it. And the shuttler stated that it was a part of her preparation for the match.

"I was very much alert and I was very prepared for this tournament (World Championship) and playing against (Chinese) Chen Yufei and Okuhara, even though it was a different style of the game I was more aggressive and fast on my feet which was much needed. So, I was ready for every point and not just thinking about the game. Every point was equally important for me," Sindhu added.
