The Indian men’s basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 3x3 Premier.Exe World Games in Chengdu (China) on Saturday after winning both their qualifying matches against Korea Jeonju and Japan Dreams in the three-team Pool C. The Indian team comprises guards Akilan Pari and Vinay Kaushik and forwards Arvind Arumugam and Gurvinder Singh Gill.

India beat Korea Jeonju 20-11 in the opener and cruised past Japan Dreams with forwards, Gurvinder and Arvind towering over their opposition.

“It was competitive. We took some time to get settled in the first match but we ended up winning comfortably. In the second game, our taller players played well against a good Japanese side to lead us to the victory,” Akilan Pari said.
