Indian national boxers’ training in the USA doesn’t seem to be happening, owing to their visa applications, which has been rejected for the second time now. This would have been the first training camp in the United States for Indian boxers, who mostly had their training camps in Europe and Cuba.

The Indian boxers were originally scheduled to train in the highly acclaimed Michael Johnson Centre in the USA in December, for the recently concluded Commonwealth Games. Given their visa got rejected, they had to reschedule their trip to the first week of May, which again doesn’t seem to be happening. Their visa application has been rejected again.

"It's not happening, the visa applications have been rejected again. We do have a plan B but even that is not sure at the moment," a top Boxing Federation of India official said to News 18.

The training facility in Texas was founded by four-time Olympic gold-medallist and nine-time world champion Michael Johnson in 2007.

The state-of-the-art training facility has been regarded as one of the best training facilities in the world. It is one of the preferred center for training among the top athletes and specializes in performance training, physical therapy, bio-mechanical assessments and nutrition consultation.

It also has a partnership with English Premier League giants Arsenal for developing players for the club.
