Indian boxers brilliant forms at Serbian Youth Boxing Tournament, nine cleared for semifinals

With their exceptional performance at the Golden Glove of Vojvodina Youth Boxing Tournament in Subotica, Serbia, nine Indian boxers have made their way to the semifinals on the third day of the tournament. There were six more who made it to the semifinals on Friday, raising the total number to 15.

Out of the nine Indian boxers advancing to the semifinal round in the Serbian Youth Boxing Tournament, six of them were women boxers alongside three other men boxers. Nitu (48kg), Divya Pawar (54kg), Jyoti (51kg), Anamika (51kg), Sakshi (57kg) and Manisha (64kg) were the six women boxers who established themselves in the semifinals of the tournament to ensure at least a bronze for them. Astha Pahwa (75kg), unfortunately, was overwhelmed in the quarter-final stage on Friday. In the men's category, S Barun Singh (49kg), Bhavesh Kattimani (52kg) and Vijaydeep (69kg) gave brilliant performances to secure themselves at least third place. 

Indian boxer Nitu, effectively subdued Thailand's Nillada Meekon while Divya defeated Hungary's Betina Kiss by 5-0, Sakshi defeated Croatia's Nikolina Cacic. Jyoti had an interesting encounter with Italian Georgia Ross, ultimately emerging victorious by a score of 4-1, whereas Anamika defeated Kazakhstan's Zhansaya Abdraimova by the same margin. Hungarian Veronika Villas was overthrown by Manisha by a 5-0 margin.

Among the men boxers, Barun claimed a dominating victory over Macedonia's Boban Mijalev. Bhavesh defeated Hungary's Tamas Borsos, whereas Vijaydeep sweeped out Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Dragoljub Kulic.
