Indian boxers bag seven gold at Serbian Youth Boxing Tournament

Among the 13 Indian boxers, who had entered the semifinals of the Serbian Youth Boxing Tournament, seven of them have managed to clinch gold medals for the country. As a result, India claimed the top spot at the 36th Golden Glove of Vojvodina Youth Tournament with a total of 17 medals.

With 17 medals, India has claimed the top spot in the Serbian Youth Boxing Tournament, followed by Kazakhstan which occupies the second position and Russia which occupies third.

Four men and three women bagged gold on their way to conquer seven golds in the tournament. Six silvers and four bronze were also achieved by the Indian boxers. Russia fetched 11 medals, but with 3 golds they stood third as Kazakhstan had a five gold in their name.

The gold medal winners for India are Aman (+91kg), Akash Kumar (56kg), S Barun Singh (49kg), Vijaydeep (69kg), Nitu (48kg), Divya Pawar (54kg), and Lalita (69kg).

Aman defeated Hungarian Laszlo Felfoldi 5-0 to claim the gold. While Barun effectively subdued Rade Joksimovic 4-1, Akash, on the other hand, faced a stiff competition against Jeheil Mirco Cuello from Argentina, but ultimately overthrew him 3-2.

Vijaydeep defeated Kazakhstan's Azat Assanov by a similar margin. In the women's category, Nitu claimed gold medal by defeating Scotland's Billie Denholm 5-0. Divya overwhelmed Serbian Dajana Grumusa 5-0 and Lalita went on to overthrow Russia’s Angelina Kabakova.

Jyoti Gulia (51kg) had to satisfy with silver as Italian Martina Pianna defeated her by a margin of 3-2. Manisha (64kg) was outwitted by Russia's Lanna Maliuganova. Neha Yadav (+81kg) was defeated 0-5 against Kazakhstan's Dina Islambekova. In the men's category, Ankit, Akash (64kg) and Nitin Kumar (75kg) had to be content themselves with silvers.
