Cologne Boxing World Cup | Pinki Rani, Parveen settle for bronze while Sakshi, Pwilao Basumatary enter final

Indian boxers Pinki Rani and Parveen lost their respective semi-final bouts to get knocked out of the ongoing Cologne Boxing World Cup in Germany. Meanwhile, Sakshi and Pwilao Basumatary have qualified for the finals of the 57 kg and 64 kg categories respectively on Friday in the World Cup.

World Youth Champion Sakshi registered a thumping win in her semi-final bout in the 57kg category as she defeated Tintabthai Preedakamon of Thailand with a 5-0 verdict in her favour on Friday. The 18-year-old Indian will now face Ireland’s Michaela Walsh in the final of the ongoing Cologne Boxing World Cup.

In the 64kg category, Basumatary qualified for the final after struggling hard against Denmark’s Aiaaja Ditte Frostholm in the semi-final bout and the 26-year-old will now meet Chengyu Yang from China in the summit clash. Maisnam has also qualified for the final in the 54kg category after getting a direct entry. He will meet Thai boxer Machai Bunyanut in the final clash. 

Pinki failed to continue her good run in the 51kg category of the tournament as she lost to Ireland’s Carly McNaul in the semi-final. In the 60kg category, England’s Paige Murney was announced the finalists during his semi-final bout against Parveen. Both Pinki and Parveen settled with bronze medals each in the event.
