After the West Indies won the World T20 in a dramatic final over on Sunday, Dwayne Bravo joined Darren Sammy in slamming the WICB. The all-rounder said that the BCCI’s contribution in helping the West Indies cricket was more than their board back home, adding that the WICB is not in the right hands.
West Indies beat England by 4 wickets at the Eden Gardens on Sunday to lift their second World T20 crown. Bravo played a key role, picking 3 wickets and scoring 25 valuable runs. But the 32-year old, much like his captain Darren Sammy, was not impressed with the board and lashed out at them. "The country's cricket is not in right hands. We have not got a telephone call from any of the WICB officials or directors. That's not a good thing. We know that they did not want or believe that we could win this tournament. It was basically us against them. Even the BCCI does more for us," lamented Bravo.
With fixtures and contracts for the year not sorted out yet, the West Indies man went on to slam the WICB and praised the BCCI again. "If we look at the calendar, we don't have any more T20 matches this year. We are not picked for the ODIs. There's a series that's going to happen with South Africa but we will be playing in England (Natwest Blast) whereas we should have been playing for the West Indies. Look at the love we get over here. Even the BCCI does more for us than our board."
With the Caribbean fans celebrating like there was no tomorrow, Bravo hailed the importance of cricket back home. "But it's nice that the CARICOM people are coming together. Cricket is a way that unites people in the Caribbean," concluded the two-time World T20 champion.
