Eoin Morgan returns as captain of England’s limited-overs squads that will play India in three ODIs and three T20I in January. Morgan controversially opted out of the Bangladesh tour due to security concerns but has retained the backing of the ECB and coach Trevor Bayliss.
Alex Hales has also made a return after deciding to give the Bangladesh tour the miss, while Joe Root, rested for the ODI matches in Bangladesh, has been recalled. Ben Duckett, Steven Finn, and James Vince have been dropped.
"No one was annoyed that they didn`t go. They are good mates of all the players in the team. There are certainly no problems at all,” Bayliss told BBC, quashing rumors that Morgan’s decision not to travel to Bangladesh would affect his leadership credentials.
“No, not at all. He`s been the captain for the last couple of years during a successful period in white-ball cricket.
“There have been no whispers around the squad or from anyone. In fact, everyone is looking forward to welcoming him back to the fold.”
England’s ongoing five-Test tour of India concludes in Chennai on Dec 20.
The first ODI will be played in Pune on Jan 15 with the other two in Cuttack (Jan 19) and Kolkata (Jan 22). The T20Is will be played in Kanpur (Jan 26), Nagpur (Jan 29) and Bengaluru (Feb 1).
