Defending champions India powered into the semi-finals of the Under-19 Asia Cup in Colombo with a round to spare from group A after thumping Malaysia and Nepal in successive matches of the tournament.

On Friday (Dec 16), India eased past Nepal by six wickets after Rahul Chahar’s grabbed a five-wicket haul to restrict the opponents to 172 for 9. Himanshu Rana (51) and Shubman Gill (57) smashed fifties and Priyam Garg chipped in with 36 to put India on course to victory.

In their lung opener, India defeated Malaysia by 235 runs.
