Indian Test Captain Virat Kohli beat Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan to take the top place in the Forbes fame rankings for Indian celebrities for 2016. MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar are the only other sportsmen in the top-ten that is dominated by Bollywood big shots.
The Forbes' ranking list is based on 2 parameters that include estimated earnings that are entertainment related and estimates of fame. The time period is considered from Oct 1 to Sept 30.

The 100-man list also contains other cricketers, past and present, including Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and Virender Sehwag, to name a few. Non-cricketing celebrities include Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Leander Paes and Mary Kom.
