Indian limited-overs team captain MS Dhoni summed up the tour to Zimbabwe as a “good exposure trip” for the youngsters, after India clinched the T20 series 2-1. The wicketkeeper-batsman also added that the tour helped India develop a pool of fast bowlers, who can play for the country.

Unlike the ODI series, which was a one-sided affair with India winning the series 3-0, the T20 series went down to the wire with the series being decided on the last ball. The last-ball victory in the third T20I gave India the series, and skipper MS Dhoni believes that the nervy three-run win over Zimbabwe was a very good experience for the youngsters.

"The ODI and T20 series were good exposure for the youngsters. Personally, I feel we got more from the T20s than the ODIs," said Dhoni at the post-match presentation ceremony, reported PTI.

The Indian captain also praised the efforts of the home team, and said that Zimbabwe needs more games to get better.

"Usually in this format, the games get close. Zimbabwe did well, batted and bowled well," admitted Dhoni, adding, "They need more games to get better."

When asked about the positives from the tour, the 34-year-old said that the tour helped the team develop a pool of 10-12 players.

"In fast bowling department, we need a good pool of players. Now we can proudly say we have 10-12 players who can play for the country," he said, reported PTI.

Dhoni only batted twice in the six matches on the tour, but the Indian captain did not seem too concerned about his lack of time in the middle with the bat, saying the team decided to play in the right way.

"Difficult one, we did what was right to put in the opposition (in the ODIs). We decided to do what was the right way to play cricket,” said Dhoni.
