Former national players Parthiv Patel and Irfan Pathan have come out in support of the Indian army and said that India should not play against their neighbors. Political tensions after the Uri attack have already ensured that there will be no cricketing between the countries for the near future.

In the wake of recent political tensions between India and Pakistan, the talk of cricketing ties has taken a back seat.

Amidst the war of words between politicians, administrators and former cricketers, out-of-favour India Internationals Irfan Pathan and Parthiv Patel have supported the BCCI’s decision to boycott cricketing ties with Pakistan.

“For me country comes first, we must support whatever the Government decides in such situations,” said Irfan Pathan in the backdrop of Uri attacks.

Supporting the statement of his former teammate, wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel said, “BCCI president has clearly said that (there is) no question of cricket with Pakistan, so we support it and also our Government's stand,” reported the Deccan Chronicle.

India have not played Pakistan in a bilateral series since 2012 when they toured India. The BCCI has since avoided playing against Pakistan despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) making several attempts at having a bilateral series.
