Left-arm spinner Axar Patel has been selected as the backup option for Kuldeep Yadav for India’s third Test against Sri Lanka, the BCCI confirmed today. The 23-year-old would be joining India’ 15-member squad directly from South Africa as he fills up the void left by Ravindra Jadeja’s suspension.

Axar Patel has been with the India A side in South Africa for the tri-nation one-day series that ended on Tuesday and is expected to join the side on Thursday.
