India's premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to play County Cricket in England and is most likely to be signed by Worcestershire for the season. The 30-year old may start his County career as early as August 28th when Worcestershire will take on Gloucestershire in the league.
Ravichandran Ashwin was recently left out of the Indian ODI team as a part of his workload management but the premier off-spinner is planning to play County Cricket in England during the break. The 30-year old will be seen in action in England where he will kick off his county career with Worcestershire as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Ishant Sharma will also feature in division two of the county championships with Warwickshire while Ravindra Jadeja who has also been rested for the limited-over series against Sri Lanka is in talks with various counties and may play in the league towards the end of the season. Ashwin may play against compatriot and current teammate Cheteshwar Pujara in his second match as Worcestershire take on the table-leaders Nottinghamshire starting on September 5. Pujara will head back to England to continue playing for Nottinghamshire whom he signed up with at the start of the season.
Ashwin's first stint in England County could play a pivotal role in his career as India is all set to tour England for a five-match Test series next year. Ashwin had been included in the playing XI only twice the last time India toured England out of the five matches that the men in blue played against the Lions. India will next take on Australia in a 5-match ODI series at home and if Ashwin is not included in the squad he could go on to boost Worcestershire's bid to top the table.
India or Sri Lanka? Who will win the 3rd test?
