Hardik Pandya revealed that the 'V Signs' he, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul had been making in the third Test match, against Sri Lanka, was an internal team joke among the trio. He added that Dhawan came up with the idea at dinner and the three instantly decided to use the sign for celebrating.

Pandya was exceptional in the final Test against Sri Lanka where he shattered various records en route to scoring his maiden century and was an integral cog in the Indian machine that decimated Sri Lanka. The 23-year-old was named as the Player of the Match for his exceptional play as Team India completed a 3-0 whitewash of the Lankans.

During the third Test, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya were seen making a ‘V sign’, every now and then, to celebrate blissful moments and the fans started getting curious about the latest celebration.

In a recent interview, where KL Rahul interviewed Pandya for the official BCI website, Rahul explained that the reason behind the ‘V sign’.

“It is an inside joke that we cannot really share, first thing, it is basically something we, me, he and Shikhar, we were talking about a day before this test match at the dinner table and Shikhar just came down and sat on the table and he did that (Makes a V sign), he does weird things so we are like okay we should make this our celebration if any of us gets a hundred,” he said.

Other than this reveal, KL Rahul had many questions for Pandya during the interview about his feelings during the game and his weird hairdo. When asked about what he felt when he was at 99, Pandya said, “Obviously, I feel pretty amazing, my first century, actually I didn’t have any century in the first class so what better than getting it in a Test match.”

Then, Rahul asked for some tips to convert the fifties into hundreds, since KL has hit 7 consecutive fifties in Test matches and has failed to convert them to hundreds. To this Pandya replied, “Plan your game and eventually you are going to get it you know, you are going to get plenty hundreds in your career.”

In international cricket, Pandya is the only cricketer to have hit 3 consecutive sixes in three balls on three occasions. When asked to choose which one is his favorite, he singled out the three sixes he had hit off the bowling of Imad Wasim in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

"I guess Imad will be special because I was enjoying those sixes and honestly when I was hitting I was in a different kind of zone, I wasn’t even noticing that I was hitting sixes, I was just hitting and being normal but in that game, I was actually enjoying the sixes , full of play and having some fun as well so definitely I will say Imad,” said Pandya.

Finally, he was questioned about his weird hairstyle - half of the hair dyed in ash gray. Before responding, Pandya counter questioned Rahul mocking his bizarre hairstyle. Both of them agreed that they prefer experimenting with their hair.
