Everything is not going well with the Sri Lankan cricket team as they have repeatedly failed to produced any kind of a performance in the recent past. With critics naturally targetting them, Mahela Jayawardena took to twitter to deliver a fitting reply to a critic.

There are more than 30 teams in Sri Lankan domestic cricket, but given their inability to produce a good quality of cricketers, a four-team inter-provincial tournament has been introduced in Sri Lanka.

Former player Jayawardena retired from the game but he closely follows Sri Lanka’s cricket. He also made his presence felt on social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. The Mumbai Indians coach never failed to take a dig at the critics targeting SL cricket.

In the latest incident, a fan on Twitter compared Sri Lanka and India’s domestic cricket, questioning the former's ability to replicate India's success in funnelling through quality cricketers from the domestic circuit.

“In India, around 20 teams are playing for Ranji trophy. And many best players were found from that. So why can’t we play with 9 teams?” questioned a fan named T.N.T on Twitter.

Jayawardena didn’t waste time to answer his question. He suggested that he stop comparing the 2 nations, given India's obvious advantage in terms of a much larger population. India's population is around 1 billion while Sri Lanka’s population accounts for only 22 million; the 40-year-old also questioned the poor Twitter user's mathematics.
