While the auction take place in Bengaluru, Team India will be busy with their tour of South Africa with Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

The dates for the two-day auction were decided in the IPL Governing Council meeting which was held on December 6 in New Delhi. In the meeting, the BCCI also informed the franchises officials about the retention process as for the 11th edition of the cash-rich league they can retain a maximum of five players from their existing squad with the help of the pre-auction retention and Right To Match cards.
