  • Players with theĀ base price of INR 2 crore: Eoin Morgan, Chris Woakes, Ben Stokes, Mitchell Johnson, Ishant Sharma, Angelo Mathews, and Pat Cummins.Ā
  • Players with base price of INR 1.5 crore: Jonny Bairstow, Trent Boult, Brad Haddin, Nathan Lyon, Kyle Abbott, and Jason Holder
  • Other big names going under the hammer include Dale Steyn, Alex Hales, and Jason Roy.
  • Each team can have a maximum of 27 players including 9 overseas players in their squad.

Here is a breakdown of how the teams stand now and what they might do at the auction:-

Delhi Daredevils:

The think-tank of Delhi Daredevils have a task on their hands before going to the auction as their reliance only on the youngsters didn't yeild the desired results in the last season. So, they will want to bring some experienced campaigners into the squad to guide the youngsters. They might want to grab players like Corey Anderson, Martin Guptill, or George Bailey during the mega-auction in Bengaluru on 20th.

Kings XI Punjab:

Their success in the 2014 edition of the IPL can be credited to the smart team selection. Their batting was top notch as well as their bowling but now with the release of their fast bowlers, they must want to strengthen their bowling attack. They might look to bag someone like Morne Morkel, Chris Jordon or John Hastings to strengthen their bowling. On the other hand, their batting looks solid with David Miller, Manan Vohra, Glen Maxwell and Murali Vijay and that shouldn't be a worry for them.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have released a total of 9 players and with their key player Andre Russell being banned for theĀ anti-doping violation, they will be looking forward to have a good replacement for him. Ben Stokes, who might be in high demand at auction, can fill the bill perfectly. Corey Anderson could also prove to be a good replacement for Russell. They would also look to boost their fast bowling after releasing several of them. They might look for someone like Nathan Coulter-Nile to bring into their camp.

Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai Indians team seem quite settled in all departments, as they have retained 20 players for this edition of IPL. With the release of Corey Anderson, they might want to fill in his place with another all-rounder like Ben Stokes. They might also want to get a partner for Rohit Sharma at the top of the batting order in the form of Jason Roy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

The defending champions' batting looks strong with Yuvraj Singh, David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, and Kane Williamson in the core of their batting. With the likes of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman in their ranks, Sunrisers' bowling presents a menacing figure. However, they would like to improve their spin bowling, with the likes of Amit Mishra, Murugan Ashwin, and Imran Tahir available for bidding.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Last season of IPL saw the RCB batsmen bash the bowlers all over the park but it is their bowling that needs to be strengthened to win the silverware. Their death bowling needs to be improved as they had leaked a lot of runs at the death and Mitchell Starc alone cannot hold back the runs at the end. With the availability of Mitchell Johnson, Ishant Sharma, and Trent Boult they would surely be seen bidding for a couple of them. They could also go for an all-rounder in the form of Ben stokes, who has been in the minds of everybody before the auction. It would be interesting to see, how the RCB management will go about it as they are already filled with superstar overseas players like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and Mitchell Stark.

Rising Pune Supergiants:

After having a forgettable outing in their debut season of IPL, RPS have released a total of 11 players. Although their batting seems decent, they would look to increase the strength in the bowling department.Ā With the likes of Trent Boult, Morne Morkel, Marchant De Lange and Kyle Abbott available in the auction, the Supergiants might go all out in the auction.

Gujarat Lions:

As they already have big names from international cricket and with only four foreign players allowed in the playing XI they might look to buy big names from the domestic circuit. They also have a solid batting line-up so they would definitely look for some bowlers in the domestic circuit.
