Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has picked one of India's former skippers as his best captain of all time despite having won multiple trophies under MS Dhoni. Making his debut in 2010, Ashwin has the won the ICC World Cup and also played a vital part in India's 2013 Champions Trophy win.

Despite playing his career's best cricket under India's new captain Virat Kohli and winning two major trophies (2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy) under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Ashwin has named Sourav Ganguly as his best captain.

Speaking at a talk show for Zee Tamil, the 31-year-old revealed that he grew up watching Ganguly's captaincy when asked to name his best Indian captain. Ashwin also said that Dada led the Indian team during dark times when Indian cricket was caught in turmoil and groomed youngsters which paving the way to success.

Ashwin himself has never played under Ganguly's captaincy making his debut in an ODI series against Sri Lanka only in 2010 under MS Dhoni. Ganguly has captained India across 49 Tests and 147 ODIs from 2000 to 2005 during which India vastly improved on their away record and also managed to guide India to the final of the 2003 World Cup.
