Indian skipper Virat Kohli has rued the missed opportunities that came along India’s way in the match against Windies, which ultimately resulted in India losing the game. The 28-year old has added that India could have scored 20 more runs if the middle-order batsmen took more responsibility.

Windies opener Evin Lewis smashed his second T20I hundred- both against India- to help the Windies chase down India's 190 for 6 with nine wickets and nine balls to spare. In his innings of 125 runs, Lewis got two reprieves- at 46 and 55- as Mohammed Shami and Dinesh Karthik put down skiers, only to pay the price for it. The ever so reliable MS Dhoni also missed a couple of stumping chances that allowed the Trinidadian to open his arms and aim for the skies.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was highly critical of the efforts on the field and in the post-match presentation said, “If you give a good start up the order, one batsman needs to bat through. We couldn’t really carry on. Dinesh was really good in the middle overs but no one got an 80-90 odd. We also couldn’t take our catches which cost us a bit. but we did not grab our chances and when you don’t, you do not deserve to win, especially with the wind and when the batsmen are playing like that.”

Earlier, India threw away a brilliant platform set by their openers, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, who dealt in boundaries for the most part of the powerplay as India raced along at more than 10 an over for the first 10 overs. But Kohli and Dhawan’s dismissal put a dent in India's progress, only to be somehow settled by Dinesh Karthik, who scored his highest T20I score of 48 runs. But Kohli felt that India were 20-30 runs short of the expected total.

Kohli said, “I thought even in the first innings we could have scored 20-30 runs extra. We were on course to get 220+. But all these games are a good feeder of how players react in such situations. We need to be patient with these guys.”

How many dismissals will Dhoni be involved in?
