Sandeep Patil has criticised the procedure that allows Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman to select the Indian head coach citing their lack of experience in the field. Sandeep, however, said that the CAC made the right call adding that Shastri had deserved the job in 2016 as well.
Patil, who served as the chairman of selectors for the BCCI between September 2012 to September 2016, didn’t question the ability of the CAC members but opined they are not the right people for the job as the trio don’t have any coaching experience.

Patil, however, believes that Shastri should have secured the job when he applied for the same last year. Shastri was the director of the team from 2014 to 2016 and was one of the front-runners in last year’s coach selection but CAC handed the reigns of the team to Anil Kumble.
