BCCI have announced, today, that Shikhar Dhawan would be replacing the injured Murali Vijay in the Test squad for India's three-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Vijay was ruled out after he complained of pain in his right wrist on which he had suffered an injury during Australia's tour of India.

BCCI confirmed the replacement through a media release.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Monday named Shikhar Dhawan as the replacement for injured Murali Vijay in the Test team, which is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series.

Vijay, who had suffered a wrist injury during Australia's tour of India, has complained of pain in his right wrist, while playing a preparatory match. The BCCI medical team has therefore advised that Vijay should continue his rehabilitation program," the release stated, reported Cricbuzz.

Dhawan has been in impeccable form with the bat at the top of the order for India, scoring consistently in the Champions Trophy, where he was rewarded with the golden bat award in the Champions Trophy for his exceptional performances throughout the tournament and the following ODI series against West Indies.

However, Dhawan has missed out playing in the all whites for the Indian team and last featured in a home game against New Zealand in October 2016 but the Delhi batsman would surely look to cash in the opportunity and cement his place in the Indian Test squad as well.
