Herschelle Gibbs : South Africa need a coach who doesn't have ‘buddy-buddy’ attitude

Herschelle Gibbs has suggested Cricket South Africa (CSA) should hire an Australian coach who won't tolerate a 'buddy-buddy' attitude of the players. Russell Domingo's tenure as head coach expires at the end of the ongoing England tour and post that CSA is expected to part ways with the 42-year old.
Domingo has been in charge of the South African side since 2013 and has had his contract extended three times since then. While he has already reapplied for the post, reports have emerged that CSA is more likely to appoint a new man. Herschelle Gibbs, who represented South Africa for more than 15 years, feels that an Australian will be the perfect fit for the post.
“I like their (Australians') approach to the game and the fact that they don't put up with nonsense," Gibbs was quoted as saying by Network 24.
"I'd like to see a new approach. Something new and fresh won't do any harm. I think that can only be achieved through outside input."
Gibbs feels that some current players are over-friendly with the coach and he wants to see the culture change in the team.
"That is a bunch of nonsense. The coach needs to be in control and for that reason, I believe an Australia coach – who won't tolerate this 'buddy-buddy attitude' – could work," he added.
While the 43-year-old’s comment just came as a suggestion, there are a few Australian candidates lined up for the role. Tom Moody, who was one of the front-runners for the India head coach role before Ravi Shastri was picked, can be a perfect replacement for Domingo considering his wealth of experience in coaching. Jason Gillespie and Darren Lehmann also have the required experience on their resumes to replace the 42-year-old South African.
