Virender Sehwag is one of the contenders to be India’s next coach, however, he dismissed media reports of sending a two line CV to the BCCI for the post. Sehwag said that he had sent a CV which was fully compliant with the Indian board's norms. He also predicted that India would beat Pakistan today.
The BCCI had earlier said that Sehwag had sent a two line resume for the India coaching role wherein he had said that he mentored the Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League and played with all the members of the current Indian squad before.
However, Sehwag responded to those reports by saying, "I would be happy to get that two line CV from the media source. If I had to send a two line resume, my name was enough,", as reported by NDTV.
Sehwag was part of one of India’s most formidable sides, along with all-time greats such as Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. And the former swashbuckling opener revealed the impact that each of them had on his game. "Sourav taught me how to keep patience and is my all-time favourite Captain. On the other hand, Sachin gave me confidence, broke my superstitions and playing with him was like playing with the wall, you could play without any tension and hit boundaries freely."
Given that India take on Pakistan today in the final of the Champions Trophy, Sehwag himself is no stranger to these encounters having come up against Pakistan multiple times during his playing days. Not only does the 38-year old foresee India beating Pakistan in today's Champions Trophy final to retain their title, he also reminisced how he loved smashing Shoaib Akhtar back in the day. "Pakistan was that one team against which I always loved hitting boundaries, especially against Shoaib Akhtar who used to bowl at 150 km/h," he said.
