What is it with India and DRS decisions? Virat Kohli took an unsuccessful review after being trapped plumb in front of middle stump by a Nathan Lyon delivery on day 1 of the Bengaluru Test against Australia today despite apparently being advised against it by non-striker KL Rahul.

The Indian captain's wicket had a couple of talking points as for a second innings running, Kohli misjudged the spin of the ball that ended in his dismissal. In the first Test in Pune, Kohli misjudged the spin on a Steve O 'Keefe ball that spun in and crashed into the stumps. Today, however, he expected the Lyon ball to turn more but was caught plumb in front of his middle stump.

However, the surprise was when Kohli opted to go for a review although Rahul made it evident that he appeared to be out. As expected the review suggested Kohli had nowhere to go but back to the pavilion.

The 28-year-old has been criticised for his reviews in the past and the numbers paint a grim picture as well. As a fielding captain, Kohli has opted for 41 reviews, of them 32 have been unsuccessful.

Whether or not Kohli's decision to go for the review has anything to do with the pressure after missing a review against Bangladesh can only be clarified by the Indian captain, but it is the non-striker who has to stop a batsman from taking a review if it is as clear as the Kohli wicket.
