The ongoing Test between India and Australia has already provided funny moments through player antics so far. After Wriddhiman Saha "tackled" Steve Smith to the floor on Day 1, we now have umpires joining the action as well with Chris Gaffaney "raising a finger" slowly to scratch his head.
In the 140th over of the Indian innings, with Josh Hazlewood bowling to Cheteshwar Pujara, on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney provided the fans with a light moment after a slow start to Day 4. Pujara, who was batting on 142, attempted to play an uncharacteristic hook but missed the ball by quite a distance.
The Aussies, who appeared to be frustrated with the partnership, decided to put in a weak appeal. To everyone's surprise,
Gaffaney's partner on the field, Ian Gould couldn't stop himself from smiling while third umpire Nigel Llong was seen struggling to control his laughter in his box. Pujara, however, looked like his usual calm knowing fully well that he had not gotten anything on the ball.
On a day that has not seen too much action, it appears the umpires have decided to take matters into their own hands to provide some entertainment for the viewers.
How many aggregate Super Tackles will be inflicted in the match between Tamil Thalaivas and Telugu Titans?
