Brad Hodge has had a couple of rough days after making the audacious claim that Virat Kohli had missed the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to get ready for the IPL. Even though Hodge has since apologized, R Ashwin took to Twitter today to have some fun at the Aussie's expense.

Virat Kohli injured his shoulder while trying to stop a boundary during the third Test against Australia in Ranchi and the injury resulted in the Indian captain having to sit out the final Test in Dharamsala. However, ahead of the final Test of the series, with the score level at 1-1, Brad Hodge had questioned the extent of Virat Kohli's injury stating that it would be "pretty dirty" if Kohli showed up fully fit for the IPL having withdrawn from the Indian Test squad.

After receiving some abuse from fans on Twitter, Hodge was put in the limelight by Gautam Gambhir and actor Amitabh Bachchan who had come out to defend the Indian captain. The former had said, "I feel someone who is playing for the country and captaining India would never want to miss a Test match and would definitely want to play for India more than any other tournament. That has always been the case and knowing Virat, he would have never done that."

Today, Brad Hodge issued a statement of apology to Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket fans through Twitter. But this did not stop R Ashwin from taking a dig at Hodge.

Tweeting through his official Twitter handle, Ashwin wrote, “On a lighter note, from this year onwards 30th march will be remembered as world apology day.”
