A hit wicket has to be one of the most unfortunate ways to be dismissed for any batsman. Kolkataās Sheldon Jackson was on the receiving end of a similar dismissal against RPS when he was sent packing as he took an extra step back onto his stumps off the bowling of Washington Sundar.
Having lost Sunil NarineĀ for a duck, and Robin Uthappa missing out due to a hamstring injury, Jackson was promoted up the order and appeared to be in decent touchĀ after hitting Sundar for a boundary straight down the ground on the fifth ball of the fourth over.
On the very next ball, however, he made an amateurish mistake as he tried to play a fast skidding ball off the backfoot. Jackson went back to try and use the depth of his crease, but unfortunately for him, his feet hit the base of leg stump and the bails were dislodged.
