Brendon McCullum has been ruled out of the remaining three matches of Gujarat Lions’ IPL 2017 campaign due to a hamstring strain. The Kiwi is the side's second highest run-getter behind Suresh Raina this season and sustained the injury during the match against Delhi Daredevils on Thursday.
McCullum's injury has come as another stumbling block for Gujarat, whose fit overseas players pool has further been reduced to just four - Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch, James Faulkner and UAE's Chirag Suri.
McCullum confirmed the news through a tweet and cited "compressed tournament and long travel" as the reason behind the left hamstring injury.
Injuries are not ideal but part of our sport. Compressed tournament & long travel can be gruelling. Sorry for not being there all the way.— Brendon McCullum (@Bazmccullum) May 5, 2017
