The 10th edition of Indian Premier League continued to be marred by injuries and this time it was Kings XI Punjab's Marcus Stoinis who injured his shoulder during a practice session before the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.

Marcus Stoinis became the latest addition to the long list of injured players who have missed the tournament, completely or partly, on account of their injuries. The list includes Indian off-spinner R Ashwin, Mitchell Marsh, Dwayne Bravo, Brendon McCullum, Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Andrew Tye, Nathu Singh among the big names.

The Australian fell on his shoulder while attempting to stop a ball during a fielding drill in the warm-up session before the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday. He seemed to be in great pain and everyone started speculating an injury. The speculations turned to reality when Stoinis was seen wearing a sling during the match, later in the day, which Punjab won by 19 runs.

Although Stonis had only scored 17 runs in 5 matches and scalped just two wickets, his all-around cricketing skills could have come in handy for the Punjab side in the coming games, which his team needs to win in order to qualify for the playoffs.

The intensity of Stonis's injury is still unknown and the all-rounder is all set to fly back home in order to be assessed for the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament in England and Wales, for which he has been selected. Australia will play a warm-up game against Sri Lanka at the Oval and then kick off their Champions Trophy campaign against New Zealand on 2nd June at Edgbaston.
