IPL 2017 Eliminator | Who will win the playoff game in case of a washout?

The Knight Riders and the Sunrisers are looking forward to taking one more step towards the Final by winning the eliminator today but rain threatens to play the spoilsport in Bengaluru. With the city under the siege of a thunderstorm right now, the IPL has already set up rules for such a scenario.
Bengaluru has witnessed heavy rainfall over the last two days and there is a thunderstorm ongoing right now. The threat of precipitation was a probability today as there was a 20% chance of showers and the weather forecast suggested rain might hit the city at around 7Â PM.Â
If rains decide to play spoilsport, then as per the Law 21.9.x of the Indian Premier League, the officials will first try to arrange a five-over game. However, in case that is not an option, a Super Over will be played between both the teams and the winner will progress to the Qualifier against Mumbai at the same venue. The Law states, “The relevant teams shall compete in a Super Over to determine which team is the winner of the match in question.”
However, in a worst case scenario when even a Super Over is not possible, the team that finished higher in the league stage will progress to the next round.Â
“If conditions do not permit a Super Over within the time available to determine the winner or if the Super Over is tied, then the team which, at the end of the relevant regular Season, finished in the higher position in the League table will be deemed the winner of the relevant play-off match.”
If this happens, then Kolkata will have to wave farewell to the league and the Sunrisers will get a chance to compete against Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier at the same venue on Friday. Coincidentally, there has been only one washout game in the IPL 2017 and not only was it at the Chinnaswamy stadium, but it was the Sunrisers who were at the receiving end then as well.Â
So if the second game is washed out as well, it will be Mumbai who will get the last chance to exact some revenge on their derby rivals Rising Pune Supergiant, who have already beaten them thrice this season, including the first qualifier yesterday.
