The Indian squad for the Champions Trophy left for England late on Wednesday sans Rohit Sharma and Kedar Jadhav. Sharma has stayed back to attend a cousin's wedding while Jadhav is yet to receive his visa papers. India open their title defence against Pakistan on June 4.

Rohit Sharma after a victorious IPL campaign has delayed his departure for England on accounts of attending his cousin's wedding and the Mumbai Indians skipper had requested the BCCI to grant him a leave for few days for the same which was accepted by the BCCI.

“Rohit Sharma had made his request a long time back. So the BCCI agreed to the request,” a board official told PTI.

Meanwhile, Kedar Jadhav's visa did not arrive by Wednesday even though BCCI had approached the British High Commission for the required clearance. The Maharashtra batsman is now expected to leave for England on Friday along with Rohit Sharma.

“His (Jadhav) visa is cleared now and he is expected to leave on Friday. We waited for it earlier but nothing happened till late on Wednesday evening. Both players will be available for first warm-up game on May 28,” the official added.

Though both Sharma and Jadhav had contrasting IPL campaigns with Jadhav being a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side that finished at the foot of the IPL table, the duo's collective contributions will be crucial if India are to retain the Champions Trophy title.
