The likes of Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, and Frank Lampard have mesmerized the world with the ball at their feet and thanks to Ashes, we got to see how they are with the ball in their hands. In a mini-cricket studio game, the England greats showcased their cricket skills ahead of Brisbane Test.

The hype is big and it is very real. England havetravelled Down Under to retain the Ashes urn and the country cannot get enough of it. During a UEFA Champions League talk show, former Premier League greats like Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand, and Gary Lineker broke into a mini studio cricket game ahead of the Brisbane Test on Thursday.

The football panel took turns with the bat and the ball with Ferdinand acting as the constant wicketkeeper behind the bin that acted as the stumps. First up, was Lineker, with Lampard on the other end, who took just three deliveries to end his short stay at the crease. The former Chelsea midfielder, who played cricket during his school days, started with a bouncer followed by a good length ball before finishing him with a yorker. England selectors should take notice; they might not be missing Ben Stokes at all.

Steven Gerrard came next and pretty much like his footballing days, the midfielder was rich in technique with the bat as well. He hit the first ball with a classy cover drive and signalling four with his hand, before ducking a bouncer and dispatching the third ball for a biggie.

Lampard came to bat next and sent Paul Scholes’ full-toss for a huge six by whacking it straight over his head. Scholes did get his revenge as he did the same when he faced Lampard.
