Following his exceptional performance in the ODI series against Australia, Rohit Sharma has climbed to the fifth position in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings. Axar Patel, on the other hand, who played only two matches in the series, jumped three places to a career-best seventh in the bowlers’ rankings.

The Indian vice-captain was the highest scorer in the series for India with 296 runs and played a huge role in the hosts’ crushing 4-1 win over the 2015 World Champions, which also helped India regain the No. 1 position among ODI teams. He has vaulted four places and now with 790 rating points, sits on the fifth place. The opener is now the second Indian batsmen to be in the top-5 along with captain Virat Kohli, who is still enjoying the status of the top-ranked batsman in the ICC ODI rankings.

Ajinkya Rahane and Kedar Jadhav also moved up in the rankings and Rahane, who scored four back-to-back half-centuries against the Aussies, moved up four places to the 24th spot while Jadhav jumped eight places to his career-best number 36 in the world. Man of the series, Hardik Pandya climbed a massive 26 places but still find himself at the 71st position.

Australian opener Aaron Finch, who scored a hundred on his comeback in the third ODI in Indore, has gained nine places to reach 17th position, while David Warner, who made a hundred in his 100th appearance in the fourth game in Bengaluru, consolidated his grip on the No. 2 position and stands a chance to dethrone Kohli as he is just 12 rating points ahead of him.

Among bowlers, Axar Patel jumped three places to attain career-best seventh ranking while the big movers were Yuzvendra Chahal, who picked up 24 slots to 75th, and Kuldeep Yadav, who moved nine places up to find himself in the 80th position.

Meanwhile, Imran Tahir gained one place and displaced Josh Hazlewood, who missed the India series through injury, from the top spot.
