Rahul Dravid has dismissed Virat Kohli’s rest rumour during the Test series against Sri Lanka next month stating that he will get rest when he wants and also supported the rotation policy which gives break to players. There were rumours that Kohli might be rested for the whole of the Lankan series.

In the recent past, Indian cricket team has been playing continuous cricket matches and in the next year, they will also tour outside India for far tougher series. Recently, Kohli had spoken about players’ burn out due to the continuous series and there were rumours that he may take rest in the whole of Sri Lankan series to keep himself fit for the South Africa tour in January. Dravid understands the importance of fitness and hoped that Kohli will get a break whenever he wants to.

"Rotations are needed. There are a lot of matches being played, so you need to rotate the players. I think the management is taking right decision (in terms of rotating the players)," Dravid said as quoted by IANS.

"Everyone needs rest. He (Kohli) will get rest when he wants. When and which series (Kohli will take) rest will be decided by the team management, physios and physical trainers (after discussing with the player). Probably currently he doesn't need rest. He may be rested later. I don't know why there is so much of discussion and controversy," he added.

The first match between India and Sri Lanka will start on November 16 in Kolkata while Nagpur and Delhi will host the second and third Tests respectively. Later, both teams will play three One-Day Internationals and the same number of Twenty20 Internationals.
