Though the Sri Lanka-Pakistan series not been an exciting one by any stretch of imagination, Hassan Ali provided a hilarious moment in the first T20I that left even Sachith Pathirana smiling. After the Sri Lankan got an inside edge, Ali pretended to take a catch with the ball at the former's feet.
After winning the ODI series 5-0 against Sri Lanka, Pakistan started their T20 campaign with the same momentum and restricted the visitors to 102 runs in allotted 20 overs. For Pakistan, Ali was the leading wicket-taker who sent three Lankan batsman back to the dressing room. During his spell, he also got the better of Pathirana, but before his wicket, his one hilarious reaction became the funniest moment in the game.
The incident took place in the second delivery of the 13th over of the Lankan innings when Pathirana, who looked to force the length delivery through cover. But the rookie batsman could only manage to have an inside edge and the ball rested at his feet after hitting the pad. The 28-year-old, though, had no clue about the where about of the ball and sensing that, Ali went near him and acted like he plucked the catch from the air.
With a big smile, the 23-year-old returned to the bowling mark and but in the next delivery, he actually caught and bowled the Sri Lankan allrounder to bring the curtains down on his innings.
