Virat Kohli has reclaimed the top position among batsmen in the latest ICC ODI rankings and has reached 889 points, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar. Moreover, not just Kohli, but, India women’s team captain, Mithali Raj has also climbed to No.1 spot in the latest ODI rankings released by the ICC.

Kohli, along with being the Man of the Series after beating New Zealand 2-1 in the three-match ODI series, has moved back to the top position in the latest ICC ODI rankings, just 10 days after losing the top spot to AB de Villiers.

Kohli has also reached a career-high in terms of rating points and has reached 889 points, the best ever by an Indian batsman, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 887 in 1998. The 28-year-old managed to score 263 runs in the recently concluded series including 121 in the first ODI in Mumbai and 113 in the final ODI in Kanpur.

In the recent men's ICC Rankings for ODI batsmen, behind Kohli at No. 1 and De Villiers with 872 points at No. 2 is Australian vice-captain David Warner with 865 points. Rohit Sharma has also reached a career-high rating of 799 points after scoring 174 runs in the Kiwi series, including a score of 147 in the final match, but, he remains put in seventh place. Pakistan’s Babar Azam, currently in the fourth spot, and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, in fifth place, have also reached to their highest rating points.

On the list of bowlers, Pakistan pace bowler Hasan Ali holds the top spot, whereas India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has succeeded in reaching a career-best third position after picking six wickets in the series against New Zealand. Other bowlers to move up include left-arm spinners Mitchell Santner of New Zealand who is up two places to 14th and Pakistan’s Imad Wasim, up 14 places to 27th.

Moreover, it is not just men’s cricket team touching new heights with the Indian women's team captain, Mithali Raj has now reached the top of the ODI rankings for batswomen as well with 753 points, leaving behind Ellyse Perry of Australia (725 points) and Amy Satterthwaite of New Zealand (720 points).

Amongst women bowlers, Jhulan Goswami has claimed the second spot with 652 rating points, behind Marizanne Kapp (656) of South Africa.

However, India’s triumph over New Zealand is not enough to hold onto the top place in the ICC ODI Team Rankings as they will have to overtake South Africa, who are ahead of India with 121 points at the moment.
