India vs Sri Lanka | Rain may play spoilsport in fifth ODI

Team India eagerly waiting to register a 5-0 whitewash against Sri Lanka as they already won the four One-day matches of the series to take a 4-0 lead. But, according to the weather experts, rain may play spoilsport today and there are strong chances of the match shifting to the reserve day.

Sri Lanka lost the chance to ensure direct qualification for the 2019 World Cup stayed in their hands, but they can still improve their chances of gaining a direct berth with a victory against in the fifth ODI scheduled to play at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today but as per weather reports, rain is there to spoil the game. 

Earlier, weather experts predicted about the shower on the match day which could lead to a curtailed game and even bring the option of reserve day into the picture.

Today, BCCI posted a picture of R Premadasa Stadium where the ground is totally covered because of the heavy rain and they described that it is not an ideal situation for the game. If the rain continued then the match will be played on the reserve day which is tomorrow.

The fourth ODI was played at the same ground where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli guided the team to a 168-run victory. It was a memorable match for MS Dhoni as it was his 300th ODI match, similarly, it was a remarkable match for Lasith Malinga as he claimed his 300th ODI wicket when he dismissed Kohli.
